Hollo Bolts

Lindapter Hollo-Bolts are specialized structural fasteners designed specifically for making secure connections to hollow structural sections (HSS) or structural hollow sections (SHS) where access is only available from one side. These innovative fasteners eliminate the need for welding or through-bolting in many applications, making them particularly valuable in steel construction.

The Hollo-Bolt consists of several key components: a sleeve with expanding segments, a high-strength bolt, and a cone-shaped collar. When installed, the bolt is tightened, pulling the cone into the sleeve, which causes the segments to expand inside the hollow section, creating a secure mechanical grip against the inner wall of the tube or box section.

These fasteners are commonly used in various construction applications including:

• Connecting steel beams to hollow section columns
• Securing structural bracing
• Installing secondary steelwork
• Mounting safety barriers

Hollo-Bolts come in different sizes and styles to accommodate various hollow section wall thicknesses and loading requirements. Installation is relatively straightforward: a hole is drilled in the hollow section, the Hollo-Bolt is inserted, and then tightened to a specified torque using standard tools. This creates a secure, tested, and approved connection that can be relied upon for structural applications.

The product has undergone extensive testing and holds various technical approvals, making it acceptable for use in many jurisdictions where structural integrity is paramount. Each size and type has specific load ratings for tensile, shear, and combined loading conditions that must be considered during design.
