Universal columns, also known as UCs, are a type of structural steel beam that is used in the construction of buildings and other structures. They are named "universal" because they are shaped in such a way that they can be used in a variety of applications. Universal columns are characterized by their rectangular cross-section, with the width of the beam being greater than its depth. They are similar to wide flange beams and I-beams, but have a shallower depth and a higher width-to-depth ratio. This makes them more suitable for use in certain types of construction, such as in the construction of tall buildings where space is limited. Universal columns are made of steel and are known for their strength, durability, and resistance to corrosion. They are used as structural support beams in buildings and other structures, and are also used in the manufacture of machinery and equipment.
